The Karate Kid (2010) Review by Frank N. Raymond
5 Stars!!!!!

A week after watching the classic Karate Kid 1, 2, and 3 from the 80’s, which was very good by the way, I found myself sitting in the first public showing of the Karate Kid remake. Now, I must ask…Can we have 2 classics? The remake was similar to the classic Karate Kid but also very different. For a Karate Kid remake it was all Kung Fu and took place entirely in China. But hey, Kung Fu’s cooler right? Like Mr. Miyagi, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) is also a maintenance man with a famous quote, “Jacket on…Jacket off” and like Mr. Miyagi, he is funny but wise. Also Daniel-San and Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) are very similar, except Dre Parker is 12 years old. However, there is still romance between him and a violinist….and a kissing scene. OK…back to Kung Fu. After lots of “Jacket on…Jacket off” time, Mr. Han of course teaches Dre Parker “real Kung Fu” and also about Qi (life force energy). At the end, instead of a crane kick, Dre switches to the Snake form of Kung Fu and….I’m not going to spoil it.
Bottom Line is: Mr. Han is just as amazing and magical as Mr. Miyagi!
and Dre Parker is just as Kick-A** as Daniel-San! (No, I don’t curse in real Life)
This new remake is just as Classic as the original!
To the G rated parents, Jaden Smith does say the A word about 3 times. No big. Being a fan of both the classic and the remake of Karate Kid, I can’t say with one is my favorite. That’s like choosing which dread on my head is my favorite…it can’t happen. Anyways, the remake was very good and worth the money and time. Go see it now.
To all of the people so stuck on the classic Karate Kid that a remake is just impossible…go sit down somewhere and stop being a hater! (Don’t post your negative comments here because I will reply to them.) The remake is not a fail. They actually pulled it off (even though it’s actually Kung Fu). Alright go…go see it now!
